Valor Omega was a Mark V-E Canadian Jaeger designed to defend the northern Pacific from kaiju attack. It was the third postwar jaeger to enter service.

History[]

Even as Striker Eureka's construction proceeded in Brisbane, J-Tech engineers continued refining and upgrading core Mk.V technologies under the Mk.V-E(Enhanced) program. Its objective was to produce a fleet of cheaper, more reliable Mk.V jaegers, leveraging the experience gained from Striker's development. It was thought that additional time, money and fine-tuning would be able to iron out the reliability issues that had driven the Australian mech so far overbudget.

Although design work for three Mk.V-E jaegers was completed by early January 2020, construction was delayed due to intense political debate surrounding the Jaeger Program. Gipsy Danger's destruction at the hands of Knifehead struck a critical blow to the Mk.V-E program, and the situation worsened throughout 2020 and 2021 as jaeger losses mounted. By 2022 it was in limbo, with the Jaeger Program's budget cannibalized for use on the Wall of Life and all remaining funds diverted to keep existing mechs operable.

The Mk.V-E blueprints would remain buried deep within PPDC archives until 2025, when the program was resurrected as a contingency for a possible re-opening of the Breach. Lessons learned from the twilight years of the Kaiju War were incorporated into the designs, and construction of the three mechs began in October 2025. The third was christened "Valor Omega," joining the fleet on September 26, 2028 as the inaugural member of the reestablished Anchorage Strike Group.

Features[]

VO

Valor Omega's design is optimized for ranged combat, though she is still capable of engaging at close quarters if need be. Valor's engineers describe her as "Coyote Tango, Striker Eureka and Mammoth Apostle rolled into one," an appropriate analogy considering her combination of firepower, brute strength and heavy armor.

Valor's principle armament consists of two pairs of ID-20 railguns - high-powered, long-ranged kinetic weapons mounted on her forearms. They fire a special type of projectile ammunition called "bolts," which are optimized for burrowing under kaiju hide and unleashing a cascade of silicon-decomposing mutagenic acid. As kaiju are silicon-based organisms, this acid proves lethal even in moderate doses.

In addition to her prowess as a frontline combatant, Valor also doubles as a mobile emergency evacuation unit. Shielded by layers of dense armor and sophisticated life-support systems, she is capable of entering environments contaminated with Kaiju Blue to pick up survivors. She can hold up to 150 people in a torso compartment, which is outfitted with advanced medical, decontamination and food supplies. A specialized water filtration system in her legs allows her to channel high volumes of seawater into safe drinking water for her passengers.

Trivia[]

  • According to J-tech, Valor's exterior was designed to resemble a templar knight. Her original designation was "Templar Omega." The name element "Templar" was later reused for another VOLK-9 unit, Templar Obelisk.
  • Upon arrival to the Anchorage Shatterdome Valor was assigned to Bay 01, the same bay from which Gipsy Danger had deployed to engage Knifehead six years prior.
